As MLB attendance declines, data is here to help.

  1. While the MLB maintains the highest total attendance per year out of every major league sport, the numbers have slowly declined in recent years. Marketing teams need data to explain and predict attitudes and behaviors of fans, and basic customer demographics aren’t enough. What kind of data does the article suggest as important for analyzing game attendance? From Chapter 4, what questions do we learn to ask fans that can explain or predict their attendance at games? 

  2. What do we mean when we say that an independent variable, such as fan passion, explains a significant amount of variance in fan attendance? What other variables explain the variance in fan attendance?

  3. What kind of data do we need to measure a fan’s consumption behavior related to a particular team? How is this information useful?
